OUR PRINT FORMATS
The popularity of photography as a hobby and profession has created a market for an ever expanding variety of print choices. The options can be confounding to both the photographer and the potential buyer. You should have already read last month's article to get you started. This will result in a more cohesive portfolio and a better design for your home galleries. If you are have only been exposed to standard photo prints and canvas prints for the wall, this guide will help you narrow down your choices to just few options.
Prints are sold in two categories.
Limited Edition Giclee Prints (signed and numbered) utilize the best of archival materials for inks, papers and mats. These prints are limited to 30 prints combined by all sizes. These prints that not face mounted to acrylic have a UV protective coating that allows them to be displayed with or without glass or acrylic glazing.
All prints larger than 8"x12" are sold in this category whether fine art prints, canvas prints, prints mounted to Dibond (metal/acrylic backing) or face-mounted to acrylic prints.
Canvas Prints limited edition prints on highest quality photographic canvas. These prints normally come with a luster finish, but are available with a gloss or matte finish on request. The wrapped borders are normally reflected (so the entire image is visible on the front) but are available with solid color edges on request. Smaller sizes are available on frames, but it will be more economical for you to have larger prints delivered rolled and framed at a local frame shop.
Acrylic-faced Luxury Limited Edition Prints are the most impressive product offered. These are printed on archival metallic papers for stunning depth before mounting to the acrylic face. They are then backed with Dibond (metal/acrylic) and delivered ready to hang with a museum mount. High quality float or Roma frames are available on request for even a more luxurious touch.
Dye sublimation prints on metal are available and are especially indicated for medical and dental offices and for hospital locations, but please call and speak to me about requirements, advantages and disadvantages. The prints listed as archival prints mounted to metal are far superior to metal prints sold by many photographers (my opinion) and a much better investment. Either way, float frames or flush mount metal edges are recommended to keep your artwork in excellent condition in home situations.
Open Edition Prints (signed, not numbered) are printed in unlimited quantities on standard weight quality photographic inkjet papers in sizes of 8"x12" and smaller. These prints are a low cost option for those who do not need the added value of fine art prints.
All prints up to 12"x18" are printed in-house by the photographer.
Postage is included on all online purchases.
Delivery time is usually 2-4 weeks, but depends on travel schedules, print load and shipping address.
