This month we are discussing noise reduction and sharpening as a final step before printing. There are reasons why you wait until the end before taking these steps. The primary reason is that these actions are destructive…once done, you will not be able to recover the information from the file that you had before the actions were taken unless you revert to a previous layer in your post processing. READ MORE...

I select images to print in black and white that have an outstanding range of tones and a certain timelessness. This print of the Arizona desert was not planned at all, but the wonderful weather around me created something that was in the opposite direction of my target subjects. The light coming off the spent stems of last years brittlebush flowers, the spacing of the cholla, barrel anbd saguaro cacti along with the lighting in the distance were great collaborators in this scene.
